Well, I really did try to arrange a whole tour of the West Coast. That’s the nature of PR, though. You throw a bunch of emails out and see who responds. In the end, my West Coast tour is now a single stop, but it’s a stop I’m really excited for: Seattle.

This Saturday, August 8 at 6:00 p.m., I’ll be at Charlie’s Queer Books in Seattle, Washington to talk about My Name Was Baby: An Intersex Memoir. I won’t be alone, though! Joining me in conversation will be Amanda Lock Swarr, Chair and Professor of Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Washington in Seattle.

I haven’t met Amanda yet, but her resume is impressive. She’s been working on intersex politics and activism since 1995 and is the author of Envisioning African Intersex: Challenging Colonial and Racist Legacies in South African Medicine.

It’s been the best part of this tour, really, meeting incredible intersex people and activists. I truly hope you can make it out or tell your Seattle people to come on out!

This trip is going to be so wild. I’m flying into Seattle in the afternoon, arriving around 3pm. This event is at 6pm, then I’ll be back on a flight at 11pm to head back home. Fortunately, if you’re coming to the event, you’ll get me at prime energy levels. I feel sorry for my wife already when she comes to pick me up at the airport the next morning.

And for those not keeping track, I have a couple more events coming up later this month in Austin, TX.

After that? Well, I’ll be moving at the end of the month. No, I’m not saying where. Not yet. More on that later. Let’s just say that we’re keeping life adventurous and hectic right now.
