It’s funny looking back. The end of 2024 was difficult for me. I lost my last remaining grandparents right before Kamala Harris somehow lost the election. I was feeling overwhelmed by back-to-back theatre shows, including co-producing one. So, as 2024 drew to a close, I decided to take a step back from the stage and focus on writing.

To which the universe said, “That is correct.”

I’ve talked about the absolute serendipity that made my forthcoming memoir possible. About eight months of 2025 were pretty focused on writing that and making it as great and truthful as possible. I also started writing the fourth book in my Jayu City Chronicles series.

And, of course, I read a lot. 65 books covering over 20,000 pages, according to The Storygraph.

I did get on stage just once, singing “What About Us” as made famous by P!nk in a fundraiser show to help fight for Missourian’s rights to not have our wills overturned by the state legislature.

Looking Ahead

The book comes out in less than six months. Let me tell you, friends, that is VERY FAST for publishing. So, you can expect the PR and marketing machine to get up and running at full speed very soon. We’re talking cover reveal and ARCs available very soon, then ads and features and events.

This book is the most important work of my life, and I cannot overstate how much this means to me.

I do hope to get onstage again this year. I’m feeling the itch to embody a character once again. I’m looking out for great scripts with great people in KC, readying my audition muscles for the opportunity.

I should have book four of The Jayu City Chronicles completed in the next few months, so hopefully that will see a 2026 publication.

And yeah, there are other things brewing, things I cannot talk about publicly yet. Some of those things are book-related. Some are personal. Some are theatrical. My wife and I have a motto, which is to say yes to adventure. That’s what we do, we say yes, and we’re always ready for the next adventure.
